When we start to be visible, there are a few things that we need to have in place. But to get them in place, you need to start taking the first steps and get the information and feedback you need. So don't use it as an excuse not to get started. You will get them in place along the way, and remember, it's an ongoing process.
"Personal boundaries are guidelines, rules or limits that a person creates to identify reasonable, safe and permissible ways for other people to behave towards them, and how they will respond when someone passes those limits."
I think the big focus here is "a person creates". Because with your boundaries, you are the one who creates your boundaries, no one else. It's a creation and something that you explore. There is no right or wrong; only you can feel right for yourself. Boundaries can be conscious or unconscious. So you probably have a lot of boundaries in place already without even thinking about it. By becoming aware of them and creating more of them, we can also communicate them better.
With our clients, we can put boundaries up as guidelines and a safe container for the work. And that way, communicate to put up the expectation on what is going to happen, and where you are available and not. If we communicate it right away, it becomes the way of doing things instead of discovering an emotional reaction when the line is crossed.
Think about it before it happens, how do you want it, and how you can prevent it from happening. Or when things come up, you can learn from it and say, Okay, this happened, I don't want this, how can I prevent this from happening again. Explore your boundaries, put up your boundaries that you know you have, and explore; you're going to notice them on the way. And put up structures that will help you and your clients.
A structure might sound boring. I used to think that structure and routines were boring. But what I've realised is that when I have my structures and boundaries or structures and routines in place, it helps me and supports me in doing what I want. And it saves energy not having to think about; what am I doing today? And then try to decide from all the things that I can do. It gets a bit overwhelming, right?
Look at the long-term goal; I know that I want to exercise and feel better in my body and become better at pole dancing and things that I'm doing right now. And so I'm putting myself up. I've booked three training sessions a week, and I know I'm going to do them. I don't have to think about it. I know it's going to happen. And that saves me energy.
It's the same with the business. I schedule something; I do that every Monday, then I don't have to think about it for the rest of the week. So set up structures and routines that support you. Keep your eyes on the long-term goal, and don't be afraid to change the structure if it's not working.
The hird thing is to know where your Beyonce is, know where to shine. Did you know that Beyonce is an introvert? And when she goes on stage, her alter ego takes over, and then she goes out on stage and shines. We all have that, a place where we'd love o shine. Know where that is and allow it to shine!
And if you don't know it now, explore, try new things, or it might be something that you enjoy and don't think of as something special, go into that and shine.
Get help, know where you shine and where you don't. We all have different areas that we prefer and those we don't. You don't have to do everything yourself; there's a lot of help to get. If you feel that something is draining your energy and not your thing, and you don't like it, leave it to someone else.
Remember the playfulness and explore it's a journey that we're on. I haven't got it all figured out. I have some figured out, a lot more figured out than I had a couple of years ago. Follow what feels good to you.
If you feel a bit low in your business, if you think that you lost the energy for or in your business and want to have a bit more spark or feel a bit more excited about your business, I have a five-day training coming up next week, starts on Monday. Five simple steps over five days.
The reason I love these trainings, the five-day training is that you get one task each day. And then you can ponder on it during the day and have it with you. It's just a small thing; you don't have to do a lot of work. But it's like thinking about it having in the background and showing up for the live training and explore five different areas where I know you will get more energy from.
I'm looking forward to that. Join us here!
